Week 1 is in the books!

As you may already know, I started this challenge for myself because I wanted to push myself out of my usual wardrobe. Through my experience as a stylist and personal shopper I have come to realize that many of us have an “everyday uniform”- a selection of 5-10 items that we consistently rotate through without fully considering what else we have in our closet. So for 30 days I cannot purchase any new clothing items or re-wear any entire outfit. I must get more creative as the weeks go on. I realized that I wore my favorite skinny jeans twice this week (which is allowed); however, this next week I will try harder to not recycle any clothing item.

Day 1: White Tank, Skinny Jeans, and Pineapple Scarf

I love this comfy cute outfit, especially the scarf! It was an easy outfit to begin my week.

Day 2: Black and White patterned jumpsuit

Man, was this jumpsuit sexy and oh so comfortable. I went from meet to mommy time with my daughter to a networking event and I felt confident and sassy.

Words of caution: Don’t wait too long to go the ladies room because you have to unzip the back and take the whole thing off… or you might have to have cleanup on isle 3!

Day 3: Navy Dress

Love this dress although it was a bit warm to wear a thick fabric that day. I did take off most of my accessories that throughout the day and enjoyed the dress in its simplest form. I had meetings and mommy time on Day 3 as well and the dress worked out. Plus I wore these gorgeous green Franco Sorto heels!

Day 4: Cream tank, Floral pants

My stylish weekend outfit was both sassy and cool. The pants make me smile every time I wear them because of their vibrant color and pattern. It will be difficult not to wear these 5 more times this month!

Day 5: White tee, red patterned shorts

Can you tell I love color? The red shorts are so much fun. I wore them with white sandals and a white tee but could definitely wear them with a pair of neutral wedges to dress the look up a bit. I spent my day with my family and these were comfortable all day.

Day 6: Chambray Dress

This dress is a year round favorite of mine. In the spring and summer with sandals or wedges and in the fall and winter with tights and boots or booties. It’s cute and fun. I usually wear chunky jewelry with it and change out the belt for a different look every time. This time I wore it with my favorite James Avery necklace, brown leather wedges, and brown leather belt as I adventured to a networking event and other meetings then mommy time.

Day 7: Berry Tank, Dark Skinny jeans, mustard tropical print scarf

This outfit was the perfect pop of color for a stormy day cooped up inside. It was bright and comfortable inside as I played with my daughter and did house work (blah!) all day.

Overall, this week was pretty easy to manage. I learned that I need to plan my outfits ahead of time as I look at this month’s schedule especially if I am wearing a dress because I have be strategic with my clothing choices. I have several events coming up over the next two weeks and I want to be prepared with the outfit to match the occasion.

Do you want to try am maximize your wardrobe and also discover things you no longer love that have been hiding in your closet? Well then join me this week for WEEK 2 of my 30 Wardrobe Challenge. You can read all the rules here.
